Sun stone is Oregon’s State Gem. They are feldspar crystals. These were mined from ancient basaltic lava flows in the Warner Valley north of Plush, Oregon. New York City’s Tiffany Jewelers once mined Warner Valley and marketed sun stones as ‘Plush Diamonds.’ When colored red, green, blue or streaked with copper or silver schiller, the price of these stones escalates dramatically.
These were collected from established mining clams, faceted overseas and are natural without heat or chemical treatments set in silver studs purchased from Rio Grande Jewelry Supply.
